My Story

‘OK’

My brother, my hero (4 years older than me to the day) was killed in a motorbike accident when I was 16. Just like that. An unfathomable shockwave through my perfect world. And frankly, as a teenager, that sort of thing isn’t relatable. I didn't cry, I didn't process, I didn't feel. Instead, I became an expert at being OK. Twenty years later I found out for the first time what anger felt like. This was followed by an awkward question - am I OK really?

Values

Throughout the years, many people have felt comfortable to share deeply personal things with me. I am able to hold that space, which I honour as sacred. I value confidentiality and connectivity built on trust - my mum consistently showing me the way with infinite integrity. My dad, along with my brother, taught me the purest meaning of unconditional love. For that I’m eternally grateful. My dad, a professional athlete also gave me an understanding of what ‘zen’ is. I see it as an embodied state that came naturally to him. He showed me that: ‘no matter what, keep a sense of humour’. Even though both are no longer here, I feel forever connected. I meditate a lot. I laugh lots too! Oh, and I simply love to feel the wind through my hair and sun on my face when on the beach, out cycling or having fun on a sailing boat. The deliciousness of natures freedom feeds my soul.

Corporate Life

I spent more years in the fashion industry than I care to mention. Traversing continents, understanding diverse cultures with complex needs and leading teams with divergent challenges through change. A consistent theme was laser identification of root causes for efficient delivery of robust solutions - typically by asking questions with curiosity and juxtaposing critical with creative out of the box thinking.

Behind the scenes I was honing my coaching and intuition skills, ever motivated to go deeper to find peace.

Inquiry

I travelled the world consuming Eat, Pray, Love type of experiences. Walking some of the Camino from France through Spain. Meditating in silence for ten days in India. Stumbling upon love in Mexico while intending to find a shaman! Sunny yoga retreats and focused juice cleanses. A delicious life as an expat. Energy work in Notting Hill. Intuition circles in Primrose Hill. I took many courses. Some analytical, others mystical. I even met His Holiness the Dalai Lama quite by chance. I happened to be in the right place at the right time. My life has often been like that. Through curiosity and a voracious appetite to know, I’ve learnt a lot in many forms, and continue to do so along the way. Not least what doesn’t work while connecting the dots to what does.

Inner Versus Outer World Experiences

I know what it is to make complex, corporate results look easy - and to believe it’s just easy - while tackling weekend migraines and over-working myself close to burnout. I know what it is to feel pain of loss on the inside, while looking better than ever on the outside! I know what loneliness can feel like while living my dream life.

And I know what it is to think I’ve got it all sorted - connected, whole, at peace. To discover that I still had even deeper stuff to process. Life is a progressive journey. If you are committed to growth then lessons and opportunities to heal will present as you evolve. Some good news is that the nature of change gets ever more efficient as you simply return home to yourself.

Purpose

This work found me, while I was busy focusing on something else. It wasn't long after I'd had a 'download' - that knowing voice within that said: ‘OK - I'm ready to help!’

What’s your story? Are you able to connect with your deepest truth?

You, like me, are a multi-layered being. Not ‘just’ one thing or another, this or that. Your inner world is your own. It’s also the seat of your power.

“Before working with Jacqui, I was struggling to stay grounded while launching a company, raising a family and coping with a chronic health issue. During our sessions, Jacqui took me gently and thoughtfully into what was laying underneath my struggles. After just a few sessions, I have experienced genuine shifts, both mentally and physically. Working with Jacqui allowed me to release the negative feelings around my relationships. I am stronger.”

Inside Out

Over the years I’ve journeyed ever deeper to process my own ‘stuff’. Nowadays, while working with clients, gaining insights through professional research and continuing my personal growth work, I see clearly the link between what’s happening now and past experiences.

If a perceived or real threat remains unprocessed and physical reminders of the original event repeat, our innate coping strategies can quicken to become more intense as life progresses. This can keep us stuck.

You’ve likely heard of fight and flight responses. They’re the body’s way of keeping us safe when alarm bells go off in our psyche. ‘Aggh, I’m under threat’. These visceral signals act as as a first line of defence. The body’s antenna is quicker than the mind. There is also disassociation - when our mind and body become frozen or ‘disconnected’ because of events too overwhelming to mentally process in real-time.

Interestingly, root cause events that trigger these alarm bells include formative experiences perceived as completely insignificant to our adult minds, plus those forgotten altogether.

For example, to our sponge-like childhood nervous systems, being laughed at in the playground, shouted at by a caregiver, left to cry oneself to sleep, were at the time frightening experiences that can get hard-wired as I’m wrong, unloved, alone. Even the experience of our birth, oftentimes traumatising on some level as we moved from warm safety into this strange new world, can have life long consequences.

Additionally, early experiences can unfortunately be more extreme than this*, while new types of shocks can occur during adulthood to overload a previously calm nervous system.

Learned negative self-beliefs and deeper, visceral, body based reactions are designed to keep us safe, the next time something difficult or threatening occurs. When feelings and emotions are too intense to understand and be processed in real-time, our self-protection strategies tend to move into the unconscious and unhelpfully play out later in life. Eventually being expressed as stress, anxiety, self sabotaging habits, mental blocks, avoidance, suppression, physical or mental illness, addictions, unwanted manifestations and the like.

Conversely, never under estimate the gift of ingrained or retrained empowering beliefs, coupled with a calm nervous system. This can form a healthy cornerstone for your life.

Processing your past and accessing ways to consciously create from a perspective of freedom in the present, can forever change the course of your future for the better.

To live your life filled with greater peace, joy and purpose. To live your life as you truly, deeply want.

* if experiencing extreme trauma, PTSD or you are processing sustained abuse, a therapeutic ‘bottom-up’ body-based approach may be a wise first step, or other trauma based therapy suitable for your individual circumstances.

Intentions

My intention is that you feel peace and thrive in such a way that is your very own happy - I’m talking about the juicy and the deep kind, that flows from the inside out. If as a result you shine a positive ripple effect out into the world - to your loved ones, communities, businesses and beyond, then that sounds worthwhile to me too.

You May Be Noticing Something

When busy being busy with all the demands of life, it can be hard to hear, let alone pay attention to what your body and deeper self is trying to tell you - the voice within that is helpful and kind. And then, there’s that voice that isn’t so kind. You know the one. The voice that rears it’s head and sounds a bit like your mother or father when criticising or cross, the school bully or the like. I know, you’ve done a ton of work on yourself already. You’re fine. You’ve read the book. Taken a course even, if not a course of action. That old ‘stuff’ - its all sorted. Yes, I know.

But. There is a but - right?

‘Something’ is bubbling at the surface and it doesn’t feel good. Or seem right. Yes. Something’s on your mind. I guess it’s not that familiar even? Because, well. You’re always fine. Yes I know.

It’s a bit like weeding the garden. All is tidy and well until it’s neglected for a while. Or simply until the next time it’s time to do some weeding. That’s because the deepest roots weren’t accessed in the beginning. Or ever. So the weeds kept on growing.

Whereas what you want is for the weeds to be gone and for the healthy good things to grow. To allow the garden to flourish into it’s highest potential, to expand, mature and thrive. With ease.

Have you ever noticed that some things in life are like that too?

“Each time I have a session with Jacqui ‘something’ shifts. I trust the grounding presence she holds, but more so than this, I trust her ability to guide me to a far deeper source within myself that allows reconnection. The space she creates is sacred, a combination of deep listening and high consciousness. I consistently feel both challenged and inspired after our sessions with a renewed perspective on situations past, present and future.”
